Nectar In A Sieve

I believe that out of all the books i’ve read, Nectar was by far the best!! As I first began to read it, I was already thinking of what i would write in blogs, which i never did.lol. I didnt want to waste my time. pssshhht.hahha. anyways, I love the imagery Rukmani uses to narrate. I love the story and its kind of a story that some can relate to no matter the cultural differences. Their tears were my tears and their laughs were my laughs. To be honest, this was prob the only book i’ve read in full this whole year other than Things Fall Apart. It was an ah-mazing book and I would read it over and over again if i had nothing better to do w/my life.lol

Blog Self-Evaluation

My Best Entry:

My best entry was “Who is the Stranger” simply because I felt like I really went in depth to find out who Meursault was. I figured, since the novel is titled the way it is, there would prob be a lot of mysteries. My blog gave me clues as to who the stranger was for future references in my reading.

My Least favorite Entry:

My least favorite entry was “All Eyes On Me” because I had a really good point to make, but I had lost my train of thought so my commentary was not as strong as i hoped it had been.

The Most Effective Blogs:

I think that all of the photostories were very effective because they brought each book to life. They were explained in the best way ever, by talking, not writing words that will soon be forgotten.

What I learned from Blogging:

I learned that just one qoute or cover or book can have so many different comments and opinions from other people about it. Everyone else’s blogs helped open me to the world of acutally analyzing literature, not just reading it and letting it escape.

All Eyes on Me

“I think that at first I hadn’t realized that all those people were crowding in to see me. Usually people didn’t pay much attention to see me. Usually people didn’t pay much attention to me. It took some doing on my part to understan that i was the cause of all the excitement.” (Camus 83).

I think he kind of likes the attention. He has usually had a dull life. No one ever notices him because he’s so gray.

Wait a Minute

“My lawyer rasied his arms and pleaded guilty, but with an exlpanation. One thing bothered me a little, though. Despite everything that was on my mind, I felt like intervening every now and then…In a way, they seemed to be arguing the case as if it had nothing to do with me. Everything was happening without my participation. My fate was being decided without anyone so much as asking my opinion. There were times when I felt like breaking in on all of them and saying ‘Wait a minute! Who’s the accused here? Being the accused counts for something to say!’” (Camus 98).

Meursalt should feel this way, but he then says that he had nothing to say…so yeah.

A Little Getting Used To

“He hadn’t been happy with his wife, but he’d pretty much gotten used to  her.”

I think that their relationship had just gotten boring. There was no spark of excitement. But the thing is, they were so used to living w/eachother that they probably couldnt go on in life without eachother. They were stuck together, but they could have easily gotten a divorce but instead maybe they were just waiting for something to happen: for that spark of excitement.

Somewhat Bonding

“On their way out…they all shook my hand-as if that night during which we hadn’t exchanged as much as a single word had somehow brought us closer together.” (Camus 12).

I think that the elders felt this way towards Meursault because they all shared something in common: the grieving of Maman. When you share something in common with someone, you feel a bond that noone can take away, even if you barely know the person.

Overused Imagery

“Night had fallen, darkness had gathered.”

This methaphor has been used in so many peices of literature. Although, it does appeal to the senses. I googled the phrase “night had fallen” and I found about 55,800 results. By googleing the phrase “darkness had gathered” I found 1,370 results. It’s one of those phrases that makes an author feel like they are doing a good job as an author. They probably think “Oh, look at me. I’m using a peice of imagery and I feel special. I feel like a big-time author.” I know thats how I feel when I use a peice of imagery.lol. Maybe these authors should Google the phrase before using it next time. lol.

Anyways, I dont get how night falls and darkness gathers. Does that mean that the sun is coming out? Anyone wanna explain it to me?

Mother Dearest

“You only have one mother.” (Camus 4)

I don’t know what I would do without my mother. In a way, the caretaker’s words to Meursault are very true. No matter how many relatives or gaurdians you have that treat you motherly, there is never going to be one like your mother. If you come out of someone’s womb, you immediately have that bond with them no matter how many hardships you go through throughout your life.
